At the height of summer in a Swedish town on the Arctic circle, a French citizen is brutally murdered. Captain Kahina Zadi (Leila Bekhti) is immediately dispatched from France to head up the investigation with the local police, alongside prosecutor Anders Harnesk (Gustaf Hammarsten). The series takes place in Sami country, on the remote, icy edge of Lapland, setting a unique, almost otherworldly mood to the action as Kahina struggles to keep her head above frozen water while slowly losing her bearings—in a town where the days are literally never-ending, and where residents are already upset by a nearby mine that threatens to swallow the whole place up.
